PLUMS OF SPRING

CONCEPT
2020 has been a difficult year for many - everywhere around the world, people quarantine and take shelter from the social dynamic that once called out to them. But this distancing also begged for a return to nature, a reminder to the simplicity of oneself and the circle of life that nurtures each and everyone of us. In this spirit, I wanted to draw inspiration from none other than nature itself. And what better season than the vibrant Spring?

Among the four seasons, Spring symbolizes energy and harmony. Its winds blow life unto blossoming fields of flowers; cool winds hint at the return of the greens; birds migrate back to warmer climate; and animals wake from their long slumber throughout the harsh winter.
The Chinese has long upheld virtues of the natural elements. Plum trees represent tenacity and determination, whereas throstle birds denote freedom, love, and happiness. I cannot think of a better concept to represent the times we now find ourselves in. No matter how difficult things may seem, the worst will pass. When they do, we will certainly see again a better tomorrow, and hopefully with it, the plums of spring.
