Sculptural Floor Light

concept

Inspired by energy crystals referenced commonly across many fantasy novels, this floor light references said elements not only in its crystalline shape and structure, but also the dramatic manner it protrudes from earth’s very core.

Design process

In the spirit of sustainability, this light fixture is made from one single piece of folded illustration board. The lightweight capacity of the material allow this decor to be extremely portable to the users. This light fixture also does not require any glue to assemble, relying only on the physics of the angles and the inherit paper joints for structural integrity.

The Y-shaped opening in the front travels along the angular facades, allowing a thin and elegant sliver of light to support a wide radius of illumination all around it. The shape of the light sliver and geometric outline adds a twist of uber-modernism to an otherwise fantasy-inspired lighting.
